WEST team hits the road for kids in need.

The WEST community is being proudly represented at this year’s Variety Bash with Dwayne, Guy and Will from our development team hitting the road in their stunning 1988 Mercedes 420SEL.

The team looks like they are straight out of a scene in Aladdin but with no magic carpet and no magic lamp to rub, they are keen to work as hard as they can to raise money for kids in need.

The good news is Commercial & General is fortunate to work with great suppliers and businesses, many of which have donated generously to support the team’s fundraising efforts. Thanks to this incredible support, the team has already raised more than $62,000 for Variety.

“We’re fortunate to work with great suppliers and businesses, many of which have come on board to support our fundraising efforts,” Will said.

“We’re incredibly grateful for all donations we’ve received because we know it will enable Variety to provide vital support to South Australian families.”

The now iconic Variety Bash began in 1989 and in the past 33 years it has raised more than $48 million (net) for South Australian children who are sick, disadvantaged or live with special needs.

The team is now making their way on an incredible journey where they will stop in various towns including Glendambo, Roxby Downs, Ceduna and Whyalla before finishing in Tanunda.

The seed to take part in the Variety Bash was planted after WEST hosted the start of the Variety Moto Run last year.

“When we hosted the start of the Moto Run at WEST in 2021, we got to experience first-hand the sense of excitement and importance these events bring to raising money to help kids in need,” Will said.

“We wanted to be part of that, particularly given Commercial & General has been such a long-term supporter of Variety.

“Our search for a Bash car resulted in us landing a 1988 Mercedes. With its long wheel base, black leather seats and a few customisations, we’re certainly travelling in style.”

We wish Dwayne, Guy and Will safe and happy driving on the rest of the trip. There is still time to support their fundraising efforts – donate here to help kids in need.
