WEST Construction update - June 2021

What a start to the year!

While COVID-19 is still impacting the lives of many around Australia, South Australia appears to be relatively unharmed. Our 'safe' state has resulted in more people moving to Adelaide and our property and construction market thriving.

Only this week, Adelaide outranked our interstate rivals ranking Australia’s most liveable city, reaching third spot overall in the global rank.
Meanwhile … Our amazing WEST community also continues to thrive.

Progress onsite has been significant, with Commercial & General continuing to develop quality hard and soft infrastructure in a way that results in minimal impact to our surrounding neighbours and businesses, creating a neighbourhood people want to live in.

Excitingly, the WEST community welcomed the newest addition to the apartment range, The Grange.

These stunning, architecturally designed apartments by TECTVS take full advantage of the sunlight and natural greenery surrounding them; combining a sense of luxury and privacy with a strong sense of community.

The long-awaited closure of Brebner Drive is happening soon! Surrounding road infrastructure works to support this closure is occurring and is programmed to be completed mid-to-late June 2021. This will be utilised as a catalyst for the Brebner Road closure.

It is inevitable traffic will take time to adjust. We expect that that traffic will either be pushed through the development on Troubridge Drive and/or eventually, take a separate, new route. Please remain patient.

Pedestrian wayfinding will be considered and will inform those on foot where to walk safely.

The closure of Brebner Drive is sure to change the entire dynamic of the WEST development. It will afford direct and uninterrupted views over The Grange Golf Club and promote a more seamless traffic flow throughout.

Uniting SA

UnitingSA’s five storey residential aged care and premium independent living facility is nearing completion, with residents already starting to occupy this beautiful facility.

• 108 residential aged care bedrooms

• 17 independent living retirements units: 14 x 2 bedrooms and 3 x 3 bedroom

• 304 square meters of commercial space in the UnitingSA Aged Care Services Hub

• 5 tenancies (609 square meters) of retail space

The upgrade of WEST’S Central Park water feature from potable water to salt water continues, with approvals currently sitting with the authorities.

Construction of OCEA is continuing and is on schedule for completion in early 2022. The third and final floor slab will be poured this week! The setout and installation of external wall stud frames and brickwork is also going up on the northern and eastern elevations. Level 1 internal walls and first fix services are well underway.

With winter now upon us, we look forward to getting a roof on the building in the near future.

Restaurants have been secured within the building and we look forward to sharing this exciting news soon!

Located in the Charles Street precinct, the Library and Community Hub & Medical Precinct will be an anchor within the development and will house a General Practitioner, Physiotherapist, Podiatrist and a Fitness Centre.

The site works are progressing rapidly with level 2 roofing complete and all down pipes now connected. Ground floor mechanical first fix has been finished and outdoor units have been landed on the plant roof.

It is great to see the structure rise with wall frames completed to level 2. Level 1 amenities and the two main entries also have tiles laid with ground floor screeded and waterproofed.

Ground floor internal walls have commenced, and all structural steel is now installed.

The coming months will see brick work commence on the western elevation and window surrounds will be installed along the way.

The Medical Precinct on Levels 1 and 2 are almost fully committed with only two tenancies remaining. Stay tuned for the exciting news about our new tenants!
