Leading South Australian property developer Commercial & General has just released a first glimpse of the proposed redevelopment of the Football Park precinct at West Lakes.
The first illustration of Stage One of the project looking towards the Grange Golf Club, reflects Commercial & General’s commitment to significant areas of open space and includes an ornamental lake, bike paths and a planned landscaping upgrade to the existing link to the lake network for new and existing residents to enjoy.
Commercial & General’s Project Director, Chris Menz said, “We’re excited to share our first vision of Stage One of the project which offers up to 5000 square metres of open space, with a mix of architecturally designed living options, retail and community space being created.”
According to Chris Menz, the development – which has now advanced past the second community consultation – is being designed with a vision of offering world-class living, with a tangible mix of architecturally designed homes including detached and terrace houses and apartment living.
“It’s all about creating a true lifestyle destination which incorporates inviting meeting places and a mix of homes and retail opportunities to further enhance the enviable life in the western suburbs,” said Mr Menz.
“The sporting history of this site has a significant emotional connection for many South Australians which is why we have engaged in extensive round table and focus group consultation.
“We’re are currently in detailed discussions with the Charles Sturt Council, Adelaide Football Club, SANFL, Grange Golf Club, Westfield and of course, the local residents as we recognise and respect the significance of the site.
“We recognize the need to be sensitive to issues such as the timing of the demolition of the stadium, as we retain the playing surface for the Adelaide Football Club and the community,” he said. Commercial & General is also currently seeking council endorsement for the realignment of Brebner Drive, in an effort to ensure overarching quality development outcomes for the community and adjoining residents alike.
According to Chris Menz- the scale of the Football Park project will redefine Commercial & General’s capacity to achieve great outcomes for great partners.
“Commercial & General has a number of exciting projects on the books and we’re delighted to be part of transforming South Australia,” he said.
Commercial & General is the developer and manager of the South Australian Police headquarters and was recently announced as a partner in the development of a new 300 bed, state-of-the-art, private hospital on the corner of Angas and Pulteney streets in the Adelaide CBD.
“This first illustration of Stage One of the proposed Football Park redevelopment gives a real flavor to our expectations of how we can offer a new and exciting vision of expanded living choices in Adelaide’s western suburbs.”
